Rest Break Update

Rest Break Update

The Scottish Government has requested a meeting with Staff Side representatives and
Scottish Ambulance Service management to discuss the ongoing issues around rest
breaks.

We understand that this meeting has been prompted by the joint communication
recently issued by the three Trade Unions involved in this dispute.

It is vital that you participate in the upcoming consultative ballot on rest breaks,
which opens on 22nd April 2025 and closes on 6th May 2025. Your voice is
essential to ensure meaningful discussions can take place.

This dispute goes beyond rest breaks. It affects several key issues that impact you
directly, including:

End of shift overruns, use of bank staff, reduced working week, protected learning
time and relief working arrangements to identify a few.

This ballot is your chance to make it clear to both Scottish Ambulance Service
management and the Scottish Government that the current draft proposals fall far
short of a “Business as Usual” solution.

To challenge the ongoing lack of protections, which are negatively affecting your
health, wellbeing, and finances, the three Trade Unions are strongly recommending
you vote YES in support of industrial action.

Let’s stand together for meaningful change.
